can a 9 voly battery make 1 inch of nichrome wire out of a toaster red hot?
if I wanted to heat up a small amount of wire from a toaster say an inch or two, by using a 9 volt battery or 4 AA batteries, will this cause the nichrome to get red hot? How would I attach it to the wires going to the battery clip, can they be soldered, or should or can I clamp it. How long will the nichrome wire last, is this the wrong gauge of nichrome to use with batteries, if so what gauge should I use, if I want to use this hundreds of times(obviously changing the batteries) If nichrome is unable to be soldered, how come it is soldered to a larger piece of metal rod in the back of the toaster? I also would like to incorporate a switch to press to turn this off and on quickly.
If anyone can offer me a detailed explanation on how I can achieve this, I would be ever so greatful!

Firstly let me know why u wanna do this
What u r gonna do will damage ur battery or may explode
if u still wanna do it u must check with a very thin nichrome wire.
As there must be very heavy current in the circuit which turn or tend to turn the wire red.
So battery must be of heavy current capacity
and the wire of very less thickness
u start with thinest which u got
then go a heavier gauge
